All Expense Paid Trip to Washington, D.C.
2008 FRS Youth Tour
May 31st - June 4th
Molalla Communications Company will be sponsoring two local high school juniors on an educational tour of the Nation's capital this summer. All expenses will be paid during the trip and will include travel, lodging, food, and spending money. The students will learn about the legislative and regulatory processes that take place daily in Washington D.C., as well as a comprehensive overview of the telecommunications industry.
The Youth Tour, which will bring 100 high school juniors from across rural America to Washington, D.C., will focus mostly on the critical role telecommunications plays in rural America and the impact policy development in the Nation’s capital has on this industry. Some notable places of interest that the students will visit include: the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials; the Korean, Vietnam and new World War II Memorials; Mount Vernon, home of George Washington; the Smithsonian Museums and more. The trip is hosted/chaperoned by the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS), which is the philanthropic arm of the National Telephone Cooperative Association (NTCA), of which Molalla Communications Company is a member. The Foundation is dedicated to informing and educating the public on the rural telecommunications industry and to improving the quality of life throughout America. Each year, it organizes the Youth Tour, designed to educate rural youth about the telecommunications industry and our nation’s political processes.
Two students will be selected to represent Molalla Communications Company. The Youth Tour is available to students who are MCC members or immediate family member (829 & 759 phone prefix), legally residing in the member household on the date of the tour.
